Rev. Dr. Sameh Hanna is the associate and preaching pastor and steering member at Kasr El Dobara Evangelical Church. His passion for serving the Lord and His people has been evident, especially during Egypt’s civil uprising, where he chose to return from Canada to serve the church during a critical period. Rev. Sameh lives in Cairo, Egypt and is married to Mrs. Nevine, and has two daughters.
Dr. Sameh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science from Cairo University and a
Masters Degree in Information Science from Mainz University in Wiesbaden, Germany. He later went on to earn a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry from Knox College at the University of Toronto.
Before committing to his full-time ministry, Rev. Dr. Sameh Hanna had a successful career in telecommunications. He was the Founder and CEO of Universe Telecommunications Inc. in Canada. His leadership in the company highlighted his entrepreneurial skills and vision for innovation in the telecommunications industry. However, in 2001, he decided to leave the corporate world and follow God’s call to return to Egypt and dedicate his life to serving the
church and its mission.
While in Germany, Dr. Hanna served the Arabic community and founded the first Arabic church there in 1995. He was ordained as a minister of the Word and Sacraments for Arabic-speaking people in the Presbyterian Church in Canada. He has also been the founder and chair of the Arabic Outreach Ministry (AOM) in Canada since 2004, which is a mission-oriented initiative focused on reaching Arabic-speaking communities. AOM has been instrumental in supporting spiritual growth and evangelistic efforts for Arabic speakers in Canada and beyond. Rev. Sameh finally joined the pastoral team at KDEC in 2009, taking on roles such as leading ministry teams, serving as Executive Pastor, and managing central administration. He regularly teaches and preaches at various church meetings and is dedicated to pastoring and counseling the congregation.
Alongside his full-time ministry, he has also achieved a lot over the years. Dr. Sameh authored a thesis in 2018 titled“Forced Out of the Walls: The Effects of Egypt’s Civil Uprising on Kasr Dobara Evangelical Church (A Case Study)” as part of his Doctor of Ministry program at Knox College. He also wrote his first book, “Out of the Walls,” published in 2020, discussing the impact of Egypt’s civil uprising and its effect on awakening and empowering the church.
